The subversion of Christianity

The subversion of Christianity

‘Allama Khairuddin Afandi Aalusi has related the following in Al Jawaab Ul Faseeh on the authority of Islamic and Christian histories.

After Prophet ‘Isa (May peace be upon him) was raised to the heavens, the spirited speeches of the Christians were moving the Jews and they started accepting the Christian religion in droves.  Paul, who was a king of the Jews, drove away all Christians from Syria.  However, when he noticed that even this had no effect and Christianity was still spreading, he told his advisors:  This corruption is progressing day by day.  There seems to be no way to stem it.  Now I have thought of a plan, be it good or bad, you must acquiesce to it.  They accepted this.

Paul took promises from his advisors, left his kingship, wore the garb of the Christians and joined them.  When the Christians saw him, they thanked the Lord Almighty and welcomed him with open arms.  Paul said:  Gather your elders.  I have something to say to them.

They gathered immediately.  Then Paul said:  When I banished you from Syrian, Jesus cursed me and snatched away my sight, hearing and power of thought.  I became blind, deaf and mad.  Thus was I admonished.  I realized that the true religion could be only the one which you follow.  Now, by the grace of the Almighty, I have forsaken my false religion and the temporary kingship of this world.  I consider your company and poverty and asceticism as eternal felicity.  I have resolved that I will spend the rest of my life in preaching the bible and in the company of the men of truth.  My only request to you gentlemen is to construct a small house for me in which I can engage in worship.  Instead of a bed, spread ash on it.  I do not desire any comfort in this temporary life.

After this, he engaged himself in recitation of bible and its teaching.

If the landlord of a locality says these zealous words and his present condition also bears it out, then there will be an extraordinary excitement in the listeners.  Here we have a king of the times who has left his kingdom and become an ascetic.  He says that the reason behind all this is a divine inspiration which has made him abandon a kingdom and throne and has made him content with asceticism.  His present condition attests to what he is saying.  Just imagine, which person from that group would not readily sacrifice all his wealth for that man?

Thus, a house of worship was readily built.  In that house, Paul went into seclusion.  The next day when his devotees gathered, the door of that house opened and Paul appeared before them with ecstatic, his eyes sleepless and a sigh on his lips.  He started giving an energetic speech.  In the course of his speech, he said:  I have a thought.  You may accept it if you may.

Everyone waited on his words.  Then Paul said:  All those things which come from the unseen realm to illuminate the world do so on the command of Allah Most High.  Is this true?

Everyone said:  Indeed, this is true.  Paul said:  I see day and night that the sun, moon, starts, etc. rise from the east.  Thus, in my opinion we should make east the direction of our worship.  We should turn in that direction and offer Salaat.

The whole gathering agreed wholeheartedly.  They abandoned Bait Ul Muqaddis, which had been the Qibla for all Prophets.  When this was easily done, Paul retreated into his worship-house and remained inside for 2 days, ostensibly to make his devotees pine for him.  All his devotees became anxious.  When he emerged on the third day, he started spouting new research and interpretations.  In the midst of his speech, he said:  I have thought of one more thing.

His devotees were already eager to hear the new research.  They sat up and became even more attentive.

He said:  If some respected person sends some gifts to an ordinary person and this person doesn’t accept it, will it lower the status of that respected person?

Everyone said:  Indeed, it will!  Considerably!

Then Paul said:  Whatever things are present in this world, the Lord made them all for you.  Rejecting such a gift, i.e. considering some things as unlawful is a big irreverence (to the Lord Almighty).  True devotion is that whatever animals are there, big and small, one should earnestly consume all of them.

Everyone happily agreed to this as well.

When this matter was also dealt with, Paul complimented and praised his devotees and retreated into his seclusion.

Now, he remained there for 3 days.  This caused no uncertain amount of anxiety to his devotees and they had a burning desire to meet him.  On the fourth day, Paul opened the door and assures his devotees.  He then said: Have you ever heard that a man could make the blind see, heal the lepers and resurrect the dead?

All those present said:  No.  It is not possible.

He then said:  Jesus did all this.  I would say that Jesus was not a man but God Himself, who appeared amidst you for some days and then veiled Himself!

The moment he said this, his simple-minded devotees raised a chorus of appreciation.  Except a rare few, everyone said that Jesus was not a man.

Thus, in only 3 face-offs Paul won the whole thing and plunged everyone into the loss of this world and the hereafter and founded a new kingdom and a new religion.

This is truly incredulous.  None among them asked:  Sir!  You claim to be a Christian, then why this talk against the teachings of Christianity?  We also have heard the words of our Prophet and are aware of his customs.  We didn’t hear anything of this sort from him.  If these are divine inspirations, then why are they going against the teachings of the Prophet whose follower you claim to be?  They were deceived by their simple mindedness and love of novelty.

However, one man of perfect faith (who would now be called “fundamentalist”) stood up and addressed all:  May the wrath of God take you!  Can’t you understand that this wretch has come to distort your religion?  We have seen Prophet Jesus (May peace be upon him) ourselves.  We never heard any such thing from him.

But who would listen to that lone voice?  No one paid any attention to him.  At last, that person and his few associates detached from those people and went their own way.
