Shah Naqshband Conference

Prominent scholars and intellectuals address the audience.

On Sunday, Shah Naqshband Conference was held under the aegis of Abul Hasanaat Islamic Research Center at Masjid Abul Hasanaat after Salaat Ul Maghrib.  Maulana Mufti Khaleel Ahmed, Shaykh Ul Jamia, Jamia Nizamia, was the president and Maulana Mufti Syed Azeemuddin, Chief Mufti, Jamia Nizamia, oversaw it and Maulana Muhammad Khaja Shareef, Shaykh Ul Hadith, Jamia Nizamia, directed it.

Hadhrat Maulana Khaleel Ahmed said that the mention of the saints is a means of gaining the Mercy of Allah Most High.  In the Holy Quran, not only the lives of the Prophets (May peace be upon her), but also the incidents of the saints are also mentioned.  That the Holy Quran mentions the saints and narrates their incidents is nothing useless.  Indeed, there are lessons for humankind in these incidents.  The saints are mentioned so that fear and consciousness of Allah Most High and concern about the hereafter.

The revered Mufti stressed that to turn to Allah Most High, one should seek the company of the righteous.

Hadhrat Maulana Khaja Shareef said that Allah Most High Himself has taken the responsibility of safeguarding His faith.  As per the needs of the time, Allah Most High sends such personalities who lend succor to His religion and guide humankind.

Hadhrat Shah Naqshband Syed Khaja Muhammad Bahauddin Naqshband (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) was granted such majesty and universality by Allah Most High that everyone needs him.  Each and every strip of land on this earth has received blessings from him.

Hadhrat Maulana Qazi Syed Azam Ali Soofi Qadri, Sadar, Kul Hind Jamiatul Mashaaikh, said that people gain high stations and positions by striving hard after coming into this world.  However, there are some beloved slaves of Allah Most High who are granted knowledge, gnosis and other accomplishments by Allah Most High Himself and sent to this world to guide humankind.

Hadhrat Shah Naqshband (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) is in the front rank of those beloveds.  One hundred and fifty seven years before the birth of Hadhrat Shah Naqshband (May Allah shower His Mercy on him), Hadhrat Ghouse Azam (May Allah be well pleased with him) turned towards Bukhara and said:  I smell the fragrance of a man of Allah Most High.

Hadhrat Maulana Dr. Syed Shah Muhammad Ghouse Mohiuddin Qadri Moosavi Azam Pasha, the successor of Hadhrat Waheed Ul ‘Asr (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) said that this world is a place of means.  The way Satan is ever present to misguide people, in the same way, there are beloveds of Allah Most High as well to guide people along the right path.  By following them, we can reach our destination.

Hadhrat Shah Naqshband (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) is the founder of the Naqshbandi Order.  He led his whole life as per the precepts of the Shariah.  His piety was such that he never used anything about which there was any doubt (as to its permissibility in light of the Shariah).

Hadhrat Maulana Dr. Hafiz Shaykh Ahmed Mohiuddin Sharafi, Founder of Dar Ul Uloom An Nomaniya, said that the Sufis have bestowed many favors on the Ummah.  The propagation of Islam is due to them alone.

Hadhrat Shah Naqshband (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) was a great master of spirituality.  Whomever he would grace with his attention, the blessed name of Allah Most High would become embedded in that person’s heart.  For this reason, he is called “Naqshband.”  He said that instead of asking for miracles, one should ask for steadfastness on the Shariah.  One should not turn away from the Shariah no matter what.

Hadhrat Maulana Syed Shah Azeezullah Qadri Naqshbandi, Shaykh Ul Maqulaat, Jamia Nizamia, said that Hadhrat Shah Naqshband (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) is a great saint.  He led the creation to their Creator.  He propagated Islam among non-Muslims.  He restored the beliefs of the populace.  He fulfilled the great responsibility of reforming the hearts.  Whoever would remain in his company would turn away from the material world and concern for the hereafter and love for Allah and His Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) would be established in their hearts.

Hadhrat Maulana Mufti Hafiz Syed Ziauddin Naqshbandi, Shaykh Ul Fiqh, Jamia Nizamia, welcomed the guests.

He said that Shah Naqshband (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) is that shining sun of sainthood that dry hearts have become enlivened by him.  His blessings can be seen both in the Khanqah and in the Madarsa.

Hadhrat Shah Naqshband (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) instructed his disciples to practice the inaudible remembrance of Allah (Dhikr Khafi).  The revered Mufti then quoted the following verse of the Holy Quran:

And remember your Lord in your heart…Surah A’araaf (7:205)

Allah Most High also says in Surah Ahzaab:

O believers!  Make profuse remembrance of Allah.  Surah Ahzaab (33:41)

The revered Mufti said that even if a person performed Dhikr of Allah Most High for 4 hours in a day, which is of 24 hours, it still cannot be termed as profuse remembrance of Allah Most High – which is what the aforementioned verse of the Holy Quran demands.

In case of inaudible remembrance of Allah, which is done with one’s heart, even if one is busy in one’s daily work, this kind of remembrance can be carried on with one’s heart.  This also means that one acts on the aforementioned verse of the Holy Quran.  It is mentioned in Hadith that as compared to the audible Dhikr, which is performed with the tongue, inaudible Dhikr has 70 times more excellence.  For this reason, Hadhrat Shah Naqshband (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) has said:  The hands should be busy in work and the heart should be in the remembrance of the Lord.

Hadhrat Maulana Mufti Hafiz Syed Shah Sagheer Ahmed Naqshbandi, Naib Shaykh Ul Hadith, Jamia Nizamia, said that Hadhrat Shah Naqshband (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) has bestowed many great favors on the Ummah.  He has such a high spiritual status that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) ordered the scholars and saints of that era to draw benefit from Hadhrat Shah Naqshband (May Allah shower His Mercy on him).

Hadhrat Maulana Syed Shah Hussain Shaheedullah Basheer Naqshbandi, Director, Abul Fida Islamic Research Center gave the welcome address.

He congratulated Mufti Syed Ziauddin Naqshbandi, Shaykh Ul Fiqh, Jamia Nizamia, on holding this conference.  He said that this is a very valuable effort and a golden opportunity for the lovers of the Naqshbandi tradition to quench their thirst.  He said that the whole world is ready to accept the principles of the Naqshbandi Mujaddidi Order.  Hadhrat Shah Naqshband remained in meditation and contemplation (Muraaqaba) for 40 days and supplicated to the Lord Almighty that an easy path for gaining the closeness and favor of Allah Most High be revealed.  Allah Most High accepted his entreaties and ordered him to perform inaudible Dhikr.  The revered Maulana said that inaudible Dhikr is more effective.  The basic principles of the Naqshbandi order are:  1.  Dhikr.  2.  Muraaqaba.  3.  Contact with the Shaykh.
