The superiority of Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)

The superiority of Prophet Muhammad

(Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)

Allah Most High says in the Holy Quran:

Indeed, a great Prophet has come to you…. Surah Tauba (9:16)

As per the rules of Arabic grammar, the word “Rasool” must be written with Al.  However, here it is mentioned without Al.  Arabic grammar also dictates that if the word without Al and has Tanveen on it, then the Tanveen denotes greatness.

Allah Most High is expressing the greatness of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) by not adding the Al to the word Rasool.

O people!  Do you have any idea that such a great Prophet has come to you who is the best of all creation, whose soul is the purest of all souls, whose clan and family is the best of all, whose language (i.e. Arabic) is the best of all languages, whose Book (i.e. the Holy Quran) is the best of all divine books, whose progeny is the best of the progeny of all the Prophets, whose Companions are the best companions of all the Prophets, whose era is the best of all eras, whose shrine is the best of all residences, it is even more excellent than the ‘Arsh itself.  Once, the Companions were in a journey and water came out of the blessed fingers of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam). That water is more superior than all other waters – it is even better than Zam Zam.

The superiority of Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) over all other Prophets

The relics of all other Prophets are obliterated after they depart from this world.  The relics of our Prophet will remain until the Day of Judgment.

All the Prophets desire the pleasure of Allah Most High.

…so that You may be pleased, O my Lord!  Surah Taha (20:84)

Moosa (May peace be upon him) was going to Mount Toor along with a few selected people from his followers.  Hadhrat Moosa (May peace be upon him) left them behind and hurried to the mountain.  Allah Most High asked him:  O Moosa!  Why didn’t you come along with them?  Moosa (May peace be upon him) said:  O Allah!  I hurried here so that You are pleased with me.

This shows that all other Prophets desired that Allah Most High be pleased with them.  On the other hand, Allah Most High desires that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) be pleased with Him.  It is mentioned in the Holy Quran:

And soon your Lord shall bestow upon you (so much) that you will be well-pleased.  Surah Dhuha (93:05)

All other Prophets swore by Allah Most High.  Allah Most High Himself swears by Our Prophet:

By Your blessed life… Surah Hijr (15:72)

Not only the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) Himself, Allah Most High even swears by those things which are related to the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam):

By the times of Prophet Muhammad….Surah ‘Asr (103:01)

I swear by this city, Makkah, in which You live…Surah Balad (90:01)

Moosa and Haroon (May peace be upon them) are ordered:

Speak politely (to the pharaoh)….Surah Taha (20:43)

Our Prophet is such that Allah Most High says about Him:

Indeed!  You are on the highest station of morality….Surah Qalam (68:03)

O Prophet!  Why this degree of gentleness?  Treat them harshly….

Allah Most High addresses all other Prophets by their names:

O Moosa!  O ‘Isa and so on.

Our Prophet is addressed by any of His attributes:

O Beloved with the mantle.  Surah Muzammil (73:01)

On Beloved with the cloak…. Surah Muddassir (74:01)

O Beloved Prophet… Surah Ahzaab (33:01)

If the name of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) is taken at all, it is in such a manner that greatness is apparent from it:

Muhammadur Rasoolullah…..Surah Fatah (48:29)

To be continued…..
