Our faith is respect and reverence of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)

Our faith is respect and reverence of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)

Respect and reverence of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) is highly essential for every Muslim.  To respect and revere Him is faith in Him and to be highly meticulous in doing so is perfection of faith.  Allah Most High has granted the status of Prophethood to Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).  He sent the Prophet to this world as a giver of glad tidings (Basheer) and as a warner (Nadheer) and as the One who observes everyone (Shahid).

The objectives of sending the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) are to believe in Allah and in the Prophet, to respect and revere the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and glorification of Allah Most High.

These are the words of Mufti Syed Ziauddin Naqshbandi, Professor, Islamic Law, Jamia Nizamia, Founder-Director, Abul Hasanaat Islamic Research Center, in the weekly lecture conducted under the aegis of AHIRC in Masjid Abul Hasanaat.

The revered Mufti quoted the following verses of Surah Fatah:

Indeed, We have sent you as an eyewitness (of the actions and the state of affairs of Umma [Community] to bear testimony on the Day of Reckoning) and as a Bearer of good news and as a Warner, So that, (O people,) you may believe in Allah and His Messenger (blessings and peace be upon him) and may help his (Din [Religion]), and revere and venerate him heart and soul, and (with that) glorify Allah morning and evening.  Surah Fatah (48:8,9)

The revered Mufti said that in this verse 2 (Arabic) words are used for respect – Ta’azeer and Tauqeer.  The first words means to respect which is the essential of faith (Imaan).  Tauqeer means to respect and revere someone to the extreme, which is the perfection of faith.

Allah Most High first mentioned faith and His own glorification the last.  In between, the respect and reverence of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) has been described.  This approach makes it clear that the intent of Allah Most High is that respect and reverence of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) is a part of faith.  Along with glorification of Allah Most High, the grandeur and greatness of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) should also be mentioned.  The accomplishments and miracles of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) should be described to one and all.

The revered Mufti quoted a Hadith from Sahih Bukhari that Hadhrat Jabir bin ‘Abdullah (May Allah be well pleased with him) came to the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and entreated:  My father was deep in debt and he left an orchard.  Not even a single debtor can be paid off with it.  You please intercede on my behalf to the creditors that they grant me some more time.

The next morning the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) came to the orchard of Hadhrat Jabir (May Allah be well pleased with him).  Along with Him were Hadhrat Abu Bakr and Hadhrat ‘Umar (May Allah be well pleased with them).  The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) prayed for barakah in the orchard.  He then said to Hadhrat Jabir (May Allah be well pleased with them):  Call the creditors and pay off their debts.  Hadhrat Jabir (May Allah be well pleased with him) says:  I paid off all the debts.  Then I observed that the dates left over in the orchard were in even greater quantity than before.

In Maghrib Salaat, I went to the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and told Him all that had happened.  The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) expressed His happiness and said:  I testify that I am the Prophet of Allah.  Then He said:  Go to Abu Bakr and ‘Umar and tell this to them as well.  Hadhrat Jabir (May Allah be well pleased with him) says:  I told this to them.  Both of them said:  We knew when the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) did so that the orchard would be blessed.

The revered Mufti said that due to the arrival and the prayer of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), the orchard was blessed beyond belief, the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) ordered that this miracle should be conveyed to Abu Bakr and ‘Umar.

There are many such Hadith in the corpus of Hadith which show describing, listening and conveying the greatness of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).

The revered Mufti said that Muslims should unitedly proclaim those Hadith.  We should follow the pristine teachings of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and should adopt the approach of the Companions.

Before this lecture, Maulvi Hafiz Syed Muhammad Misbahuddin Umair and Maulana Hafiz Syed Wahed Ali Qadri, Teacher, Jamia Nizamia, spoke on the excellence of Durood.  Maulvi Hafiz Syed Muhammad Bahauddin Zubair led the proceedings.  The session ended with Salaam and Dua.
