The Hajjis are the guests of Allah Most High

The Hajjis are the guests of Allah Most High

Weekly lecture of Mufti Syed Ziauddin Naqshbandi in Masjid Abul Hasanaat

Hajj is a great Obligatory act among the other Obligatory acts that Allah Most High has ordained for the believers.  It is one of the greatest articles of Islam.  Salaat and fasting are about the body.  Zakaat is about wealth.  Hajj is a form of worship which is about the body and also about the wealth.

The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) expressed the excellence and blessings of Hajj in His words and gave the Hajjis glad tidings of great reward for those who perform it.  There is a Hadith in Sahih Bukhari: The one who performs Hajj for the sake of Allah Most High and does not commit any act of indecency and any sin in it, that person will return so purified of sins as if he (or she) were just delivered by his (or her) mother.  (Sahih Bukhari, Kitaab Ul Hajj, Hadith No. 1521)

These are the words of Mufti Syed Ziauddin Naqshbandi, Professor, Islamic Law, Jamia Nizamia, Founder-Director, Abul Hasanaat Islamic Research Center, in the weekly lecture conducted under the aegis of AHIRC in Masjid Abul Hasanaat.

The revered Mufti said that the blessings of Hajj are not only for those who perform it but also for others.  Out of His Mercy and Benevolence, Allah Most High grants the Hajjis such a great status that the Hajjis will intercede for 400 people of their respective families as per the words of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) recorded in Musnad Bazzaar, Hadith No. 3196; Jame’ Ul Kabeer, Hadith No. 12137; Jame’ Ul Ahadeeth, Hadith No. 11680; Majma’ Uz Zawaaid, Hadith No. 5289; Kanz ul ‘Ummaal, Hadith No. 11841.

The Hajjis are granted such status that whatever they supplicate for, Allah Most High accepts their supplication.  It is narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be well pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said:  Those who perform Hajj and ‘Umrah are the guests of Allah Most High.  If they ask something of Allah Most High, He accepts their supplication and if they ask Allah Most High for forgiveness, He forgives them.  (Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith No. 3004)

The revered Mufti quoted from Jame’ Tirmidhi that when a believer says the Talbiya (i.e. Labbaik….), then each and every stone, tree ….. on the left and right of the believer, until the ends of the earth, also join in the Talbiya.  On one hand, this Hadith shows the grandeur of the Hajji and the excellence of the Talbiya and on the other hand, this Hadith shows the all-comprehensive knowledge and the matchless hearing of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).  The personality who can hear the speech of the pebbles of the ends of the earth, can also surely hear the Durood and Salaam of His Ummah.

The revered Mufti stressed that Hajj should be performed with sincere intentions and for the sake of seeking the pleasure and approval of Allah Most High.  The Sunnah and other proprieties of Hajj should also be kept in mind and followed.

The spiritual and other-worldly benefits of Hajj are of course present.  Through the blessings of this form of worship, even the material life also becomes satisfying and the Hajji remains safe from poverty and starvation.  The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said:  You keep offering Hajj after Hajj and ‘Umrah after ‘Umrah, because Hajj and ‘Umrah dispel poverty and sins the way a furnace purifies iron and gold and silver.  The reward of an accepted Hajj is nothing but paradise.  (Jame’ Tirmidhi, Hadith No. 815; Sunan Nasaai, Hadith No. 2630; Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith No. 2887)

The wait in ‘Arafah is the most important article of Hajj.  Allah Most High grants pardon to innumerable sinners on the day of ‘Arafah.  There is a Hadith recorded in Sharh Us Sunnah, Mishkaat Ul Masabeeh and Zujaajatul Masabeeh:  On the day of ‘Arafah, Allah Most High graces the worldly skies with His Presence and expresses His pleasure before the angels on those who have gathered in the plain of ‘Arafah.  The Lord Almighty says:  O My angels!  Look at My slaves who have traversed far flung and wide and narrow paths to come here with disheveled hair and grime-laden faces; they are calling upon Me by glorifying Me.  O angels!  You be witness!  I have forgiven all of them.  On this the angels entreat:  So and so man and so and so woman is also among them and they are sinners….The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said that on this entreaty of the angels, Allah Most High says:  Hear! I have forgiven them as well along with the pious ones.  After relating all this, the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said:  On no other day are so many folks released from hell as they are done on the day of ‘Arafah.  (Mishkaat Ul Masabeeh, Hadith No. 2601)

The revered Mufti said that usually people delay Hajj even after it has become Obligatory on them.  The Hadith have strict warnings about those who don’t perform Hajj even after having the ability to perform it.  The session ended with Salaam and supplications.  Maulana Hafidh Syed Muhammad Bahauddin Zubair Naqshbandi Qadri, Maulvi, Jamia Nizamia, led the proceedings.
