Shah-e-Naqshband Conference

Shah-e-Naqshband Conference (2014) was held in Masjid Abul Hasanaat under the guidance of Hadhrat ‘Allama Maulana Mufti Muhammad Azeemuddin Naqshbandi, Mufti, Jamia Nizamia.  Distinguished scholars and shaykhs of Hyderabad spoke on various facets of the life of Hadhrat Khaja Syed Muhammad Bahauddin Naqshband (May Allah shower His Mercy on him), the eponymous founder of the Naqshbandi Order of Tasawwuf.

The conference was presided over by Hadhrat ‘Allama Maulana Muhamamad Khaja Shareef Qadri, Shaykh Ul Hadith, Jamia Nizamia and founder Al Mahad Ad Deeni Al ‘Arabi.

In his presidential address, the shaykh said that if one desires happiness in this world and felicity in the hereafter, then one should attach themselves to the saints and follow in their footsteps.  This is because the presence of the saints in this world is as essential as a pillar to a huge building.  The aim of all the Sufi orders is the same although they might differ in the modalities.  The revered Shaykh insisted that Muslims should lead their lives as per the precepts of the Shariah.  If a person can fly through the air and still does something against the Shariah, then that person’s earlier miracle is of no consideration whatsoever.

Hadhrat ‘Allama Maulana Dr. Hafidh Shaykh Ahmed Mohiuddin Sharafi Qadri, the founder of Dar Ul Uloom An Nomaniya and Chief Advisor, Abul Hasanaat Islamic Research Center that due to his absolute following of the life of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and by virtue of his connection with him, Hadhrat Shah-e-Naqshband became the epitome of the distinctions of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).  Hadhrat Shah-e-Naqshband would value steadfastness (Isteqaamah) more than the power to work miracles (Karaamah) and would say that miracles are good, but they are not the aim.

Hadhrat ‘Allama Dr. Muhammad Saifullah Qadri, Shaykh Ul Adab, Jamia Nizamia and Khateeb, Eidgah Mir Alam, Hyderabad, said that in today’s times Muslims are reviled the world over for their lack of character when on the other hand our elders were of virtuous character that non-Muslims and even avowed enemies would be moved to embrace Islam.  The revered Shaykh advised the audience to keep good and virtuous company.  He said that the company of virtuous folk revolutionizes lives.

Hadhrat ‘Allama Maulana Dr. Hafidh Syed Shah Badiuddin Sabri, Professor, Department of Arabic, Osmania University and honorable member, management committee, Jamia Nizamia, said that Hadhrat Shah-e-Naqshband holds a distinguished position in the front rank of the saints of the Ummah.  The spiritual greatness of Shah-e-Naqshband can be gauged from the fact that even his disciples would have divine favors bestowed on them by virtue of being attached to him.

Once an apple was presented to the Khaja.  When someone desired to cut it into pieces, the Khaja said:  Wait.  This apple is glorifying Allah Most High.  Then when the Khaja cast his spiritual grace on them, the whole assembly heard the glorification of the apple.

The revered professor quoted from the teachings of Hadhrat Shah-e-Naqshband (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) that one should remain busy in the remembrance of Allah Most High.  When the hands are busy in work, the heart should be busy in the remembrance of Allah Most High.  One’s outward aspect should be with the people and one’s inward aspect should be in communion with the Lord Almighty.

Janab Al-Haj Syed Ahmed Pasha Qadri, General Secretary, AIMIM, and MLA, Charminar constituency, said that Hadhrat Shah-e-Naqshband (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) is the shining sun of the cosmos of sainthood.  His light has illuminated the whole world.  Even centuries after his passing away, blessings flow from him and people still remember him.

Hadhrat ‘Allama Maulana Syed Shah Azeezullah Qadri Naqshbandi, Shaykh Ul Maqoolaat, Jamia Nizamia said that Hadhrat Shah-e-Naqshband (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) is the ocean of the knowledge of the Shariah and the mystical sciences of Islam.  He is entrusted with spiritual secrets and gnosis.  The personality of Shah-e-Naqshband (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) became such a huge source of blessings for Bukhara that the area of Hadhrat Shah-e-Naqshband (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) came to be called as “Qisr-e-A’arifaan.

The revered Maulana said that when the majesty of Allah Most High is always present in the heart and one remembers Allah Most High alone, this is called as Muraaqaba.  When through worship and self-mortification, the heart is purified, one starts seeing divine secrets.  This is called Mushaahada.  Analyzing one’s deeds in solitude is called Muhaasabah.

Hadhrat ‘Allama Maulana Mufti Syed Ziauddin Naqshbandi Qadri, Shaykh Ul Fiqh, Jamia Nizamia, and Founder-Director, Abul Hasanaat Islamic Research Center, said that one should love the saints for the sake of the love of Allah Most High and the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).  No matter which Sufi order to which we belong, it is necessary for us that we should respect all saints.

The revered Mufti said that scholars from the Arab world and the non-Arab world have considered the mention of Hadhrat Shah-e-Naqshband (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) an absolute felicity.  The teachings of Hadhrat Shah-e-Naqshband (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) are the very essence of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah.  He declared following the Sunnah in every facet of life as essential and said that being heedless in this regard is a reason for being bereft of the closeness of Allah Most High.

Once, some disciples of Hadhrat Shah-e-Naqshband (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) went to meet another Shaykh.  This Shaykh had great love for Hadhrat Shah-e-Naqshband (May Allah shower His Mercy on him).  When the disciples asked the Shaykh the reason for his great love for Shah-e-Naqshband, he said that once he saw the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) in a dream.  A very magnificent person was seated close to the Prophet.  He entreated:  O Prophet of Allah (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)!  I don’t get to see You often.  Tell me something which will enable me to gain this blessing.  The Prophet said:  If you desire My blessings and want to have the felicity of seeing Me, then follow the footsteps of My son, Bahauddin.

Hadhrat ‘Allama Maulana Syed Raoof Ali Qadri Multani, Sadar Mudarris, Dar ul Uloom Arabia, Kavarampet, said that the ultimate aim and objective of the Sufi orders is to gain the closeness of Allah Most High and the gnosis of Allah Most High.  There are various ways to make remembrance of Allah Most High and in the Naqshbandi order, the silent remembrance of Allah Most High is taught.  Following the Shariah and adhering to the Sunnah is the hallmark of the order.

Hadhrat ‘Allama Maulana Shah Muhammad Faseehuddin Nizami, Chief Librarian, Jamia Nizamia, said that the Sufis fulfilled the responsibility of reforming the inward aspect of the populace.  Hadhrat Shah-e-Naqshband (May Allah shower His Mercy on him) had reached such a stage in his love for the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) that he had truly lost himself and had reached the spiritual station of Fana Fir Rasool.
