The parents of the Hafidh will be honored on the Day of Judgment

The parents of the Hafidh will be honored on the Day of Judgment

The Holy Quran is the sacred Word of Allah Most High.  It is a means of reformation for the entire mankind.  Its verses are nothing but guidance and a cure.  Allah Most High revealed the other heavenly books but did not undertake the responsibility of protecting them.  The responsibility to do so was assigned to the scholars of that nation as given in the following verse of Surah Maida:

…And the divines and the rabbis because they were assigned to safeguard the Book of Allah….Surah Maaida (5:44)

As the Holy Quran was revealed to the last and Final Prophet, Hadhrat Muhammad (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and its rules and precepts are to remain until the end of time, Allah Most High undertook this responsibility Himself.  Almighty Allah says in the Holy Quran:

Verily, We alone have revealed this (the Holy Quran), and surely We alone will guard it.  Surah Hijr (15:9)

These are the words of Mufti Syed Ziauddin Naqshbandi, Professor, Islamic Law, Jamia Nizamia, Founder-Director, Abul Hasanaat Islamic Research Center, in the weekly lecture conducted under the aegis of AHIRC in Masjid Abul Hasanaat.

The revered Mufti said that Allah Most High is the Ultimate Protector of the Holy Quran and in this world of means and reasons, Allah Most High has made the scholars the means of safeguarding the meanings of the Holy Quran and the Huffadh the means of protecting the words of the Holy Quran.  Almighty Allah is the Reciter of the Holy Quran.  It is but His Grace and Benevolence that His worshippers also recite the Holy Quran.

In this world, no one can use the title of the highest ruler of the land.  If anyone does so, it is considered a crime.  However, it is only by virtue of the relationship with Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) that we human beings are also granted blessings of the Sacred Attributes of the Lord Almighty and we are also known as Hafidh and Qari of the Holy Quran.

The revered Mufti said that the recitation of the Holy Quran is the best activity and the best form of worship.  The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said:  The best among you is the one who learns the Holy Quran and instructs others in it.

Allah Most High has granted His sacred Word to us.  The way to show our thankfulness and gratefulness for it is to fulfill its rights.  The Holy Quran has 4 rights which we have to fulfill:

The first one is that we should recite it.

The second one is that we should memorize it.

The third is that we should develop understanding of it.

The fourth is that we should act on its demands.

The revered Mufti said that it is fast becoming a trend that in the name of developing the understanding of the Holy Quran, in Taraweeh, etc. relatively less number of the verses of the Holy Quran is recited and the same time is spent in understanding of the Holy Quran.  This way, we are unintentionally drawing ourselves away from the recitation of the Holy Quran.  The desire to understand the Holy Quran is indeed valuable, but we should not turn away from the recitation of the Holy Quran for its sake.

There is reward for only the recitation of the Holy Quran as well.  If we read any other book of the world without understanding it, we get bored in a matter of minutes.  The Holy Quran is the only book which even if it is read without understanding it, the interest of the recite does not waver.

It is narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be well pleased with him), he said that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said to me:  O Abu Hurairah!  Keep teaching the Holy Quran to people and keep learning it.  Because if death overtakes when engaged in this activity, then angels will come to visit your grave the way the Ka’aba is visited.

It is narrated on the authority of Hadhrat ‘Ali (May Allah be well pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said:  Whoever reads the Holy Quran and believes that the things permitted by it are permitted and believes that the things prohibited by it are prohibited, then that person will enter Paradise and will intercede and take 10 such people of his family into Paradise for whom entry into hell was certain.

On the Day of Judgment such a crown will be placed on the heads of the parents of the memorizer of the Holy Quran that its radiance will rival the sun.  If any person resolved to memorize the Holy Quran and starts memorizing it and due to some reason does not memorize the entire Holy Quran and dies, then it is mentioned in Hadith that Allah Most High will appoint an angel for that person who will teach him the Holy Quran in the grave.  Then on the Day of Judgment that person will be resurrected as a Hafidh of the Holy Quran.

Maulana Hafidh Syed Bahauddin Zubair Naqshbandi led the proceedings.  At the end of the lecture, the Mufti made a special supplication for beneficial rain.
