f:1192 -    Does an evil tongue really have an effect?
Country : Kareemnagar, India,
Name : Abdul Hakeem
Question:     People taunt others by saying that they have an evil tongue and whatever they say comes to be and sometimes it does happen.  Is saying so correct?
............................................................................
Answer:     It is not permissible at all to taunt others that they have an evil tongue.  Islam doesn’t permit taking ill omens.  There is a Hadith in Sahih Bukhari in this regard:

Translation: No disease comes on its own, taking ill omens is not allowed and there is no bad luck in owls and in the month of Safar (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith No. 5380)

Almighty is the creator of each and everything.  Human beings have been ordered to control their tongues and not to utter anything which goes against the wishes of Almighty Allah and His Beloved Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).  One should always refrain from lewd and useless talk and should avoid cursing others as well.  An “evil tongue” has no role in the acceptance or non-acceptance of supplications.

And Allah knows best.
