f:103 -    Cupping in fast and in Ihram
Country : Pakistan,
Name : Syed Muhammad Uzair

Question:
Did the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) use cupping in Roza and in Ihram?

.....................................................................................................................................
Answer:
Cupping is the act of removing blood from the body as a treatment.  There are Hadith in Sahih Bukhari that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) used cupping in fasting and while in Ihram.

In the light of the Hadith, the Fuqaha (Jurists) have said that it is Mubah (allowed) to use cupping in Ihram.

In fasting, it is allowed without any reservations provided there is no danger of falling weak or ill because of it.  If it makes the person weak, then it is still permissible though with some degree of undesirability.  Still, it is better to wait until sunset for cupping while fasting.

As given in Mausu’a Fiqhiya Kuwaitiya and in Radd Ul Muhtaar, Vol. 2, Kitab Us Saum and in Vol. 2, Kitab Ul Haj.

And Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala) knows best.
