f:60 -    Reward for engaging in supererogatory worship
Country : India,
Name : Abdullah

Question:
What is the reward of offering Nafl prayers?

.....................................................................................................................................
Answer:
Supererogatory (Nafl) is an extra performance of worship over and above the acts which are deemed Obligatory or Compulsory.  There is reward on their performance and no punishment/chastisement on not performing them.  However, there are great benefits and excellences of performance of Supererogatory acts of worship.  Allah Most High says in Surah Baqarah, 182:

Translation: ..it is better for the person  who does more good.

This shows that performance of Supererogatory worship earns one great reward.  One also attains the closeness of Allah Most High and the status of the person doing so is elevated.  The person who does so earns the pleasure of Allah Most High.

And Allah Most High knows best.
