HELPING THE NEEDY AND AFFECTED PEOPLE

Surah Maida (5:02)</p> <p class="MsoNormal">Mufti Syed Ziauddin Naqshbandi Qadri, Naib Shaykh Ul FIqh, Jamia Nizamia and Founder/Director Abul Hasanaat Islamic Research Center said in a special session before Salaat Ul Zuhr that in the present situation of Hyderabad, those who are rich and affluent should analyze the situation and should earn eternal reward by supplying ration, food and other supplies to those who are spending their days and nights in extreme hunger and thirst.<span>  </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal">The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said:</p> <p class="MsoNormal">Translation of Hadith:<span>  </span>The reward of the person who makes efforts to provide relief to widows, the poor and needy is like the reward of that person who makes all out efforts in the path of Allah (<i>Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala</i>).<span>  </span>The narrator (<i>Rawi</i>) says: I think the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) also said: That person is like the person who stays awake all night (for prayer/worship) without ever fatiguing and like that person who fasts continuously.<span>  </span>(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith No: 6007)</p> <p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal">Many people who lead a hand to mouth existence by earning each day, like peddlers, hawkers, auto drivers, etc. have become hard pressed in the current curfew/riots.<span>  </span>It is our religious and moral responsibility to help all those people.<span>  </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal">There is a Hadith in Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim:</p> <p class="MsoNormal">Translation of Hadith:<span>  </span>It has been narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Abdullah Bin Umar (May Allah Ta’ala be well pleased with them) that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: .......... Allah Ta’ala fulfils the need of that person who remains busy in fulfilling the needs of his brother.<span>  </span>(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith No: 2442; Sahih Muslim, Hadith No: 2580)</p> <p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal">Mufti Sahab said that helping needy people without any distinction of religion and/or community, providing relief to them and spending on them has been the mark of Muslims.<span>  </span>All those people who are providing ration, etc. to the people in the affected areas deserve our appreciation.<span>  </span>There is a need for us to make efforts on this front.<span>  </span>The standard which the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) set before us can be seen in the following Hadith:</p> <p class="MsoNormal">Translation of Hadith:<span>  </span>A year when the people of Makkah al Mukarramah were in the clutches of a famine, the Holy Prophet Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam sent 500 Dirhams each to Abu Sufyan and Safwan bin Umayya to distribute them among the poor and destitute of Makkah. (Radd Ul Muhtaar, Vol. 2, Pg No: 92).<span>  </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal">Many examples like this can be found in Islam.<span>  </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal">Mufti Sahab said that any person who helps any affected person to seek the pleasure of Allah Ta’ala, that person gains the pleasure and approval of Allah (<i>Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala</i>) and His Beloved Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).<span>  </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal">There is a Hadith in Zujajatul Masabeeh:</p> <p class="MsoNormal">Translation of Hadith:<span>  </span>It has been narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Anas Bin Malik (May Allah Ta’ala be well pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said: Whoever fulfils the need of an affected person of my Ummah and makes him (or her) happy, makes me happy and whoever makes me happy has achieved the pleasure of Allah Ta’ala and whoever pleases Allah Ta’ala, Allah Ta’ala will grant that person entry into Jannah.<span>  </span>(Zujajatul Masabeeh, Vol. 4, Pg No: 99)</p> <p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
