Nafl Salaat

<meta content="text/html; charset=utf-8" http-equiv="Content-Type" /> <meta content="Word.Document" name="ProgId" /> <meta content="Microsoft Word 12" name="Generator" /> <meta content="Microsoft Word 12" name="Originator" /> <link href="file:///C:\DOCUME~1\mohi\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtmlclip1\01\clip_filelist.xml" rel="File-List" /> <link href="file:///C:\DOCUME~1\mohi\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtmlclip1\01\clip_themedata.thmx" rel="themeData" /> <link href="file:///C:\DOCUME~1\mohi\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtmlclip1\01\clip_colorschememapping.xml" rel="colorSchemeMapping" /><style type="text/css">  </style> <p class="MsoNormal">Nafl is an extra deed of worship.<span style="">  </span>There is reward on doing it and no punishment/chastisement on not doing it.<span style="">  </span>There are great benefits and excellences of it.<span style="">  </span>Allah Ta’ala says in Surah Baqara, 182:<o:p></o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal">Translation: It is better for the person who does more good.<o:p></o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal">This shows that offering Nafl earns reward and the proximity of Allah Ta’ala is also achieved and the status of the person doing so is raised and the person who does this earns the preference of Allah Ta’ala.</p> <p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal">If there are missed Salaat to be made up, then this should be done as early as possible.<span style="">  </span>Making up missed Salaat (Qaza Salaat) receives the first priority.<span style="">  </span>However, Salaat Ul Chaasht, Salaat Ut Tasbeeh, Tahajjud, etc about which the Hadith mention some specific Surah and/or Tasbeeh to be recited can be offered.<span style="">  </span>But apart from other Nafl, Qaza Salaat is important.<span style="">  </span><o:p></o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal">As given in Fatawa A'alamgiri, Vol. 1, Kitab Us Salaat, Pg No. 125)</p> <p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal">On the day of Id-Ul-Fitr and Id-Uz-Zuha, the Shariah has obligated congregational (jama'at) Salaat; as a result, offering of any Nafl Salaat is regarded as Makruh.<span style="">  </span>Similarly, the same applies to Ishraqh Salaat.<span style="">  </span>But those who are offering it without the knowledge of Shariah should not be stopped, because they are anyways lazy about offering Salaat.<o:p></o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal">As given in Durre Mukhtar' Vol. No. 1, Pg. No. 613:<o:p></o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal">Translation: Do not offer any Nafl Salaat before the Id Salaat.</p> <p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal">If a person is offering Nafl Salaat and someone mistakes that for a Fardh Salaat and starts following that person, then according to the Hanafi School of Fiqh, offering a Fardh Salaat behind a person offering Nafl Salaat does not complete the Fardh Salaat.<span style="">  </span>That person will have offered only a Nafl Salaat and the Fardh Salaat still will have to offered.<o:p></o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p> <p class="MsoNormal">In the opinion of Imam Shaf’aee, it is completed.</p>
