MERAJ E MUSTAFA-The Heavenly Journey of the Prophet

In terms of excellence and attributes, qualities and grandeur, Signs and miracles, and spiritual stations, Allah SWT has made His Beloved Prophet more exalted and superior than all other Prophets.

“These are the Prophets. We have granted one excellence/superiority over the other. There are some among them with whom Allah SWT has conversed. And there is one (Hadhrat Muhammad (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)), whom Allah SWT has raised many stations. Baqra-253

The whole creation, including the angels, are the Ummah of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), according to the Hadith mentioned in Sahih Muslim, “"And I have been sent towards the whole creation, and the series of Prophets ends with Me." Hadhrat Mulla Ali Qari (May Allah SWT shower His Mercy on him) writes in the commentary of this Tradition in Sharh Mishkaat Mirqat, "I have been sent towards the whole universe, genies and humans, angels, animals, plants, towards everybody with Prophethood.”

Jibrail AS came to the presence of the Holy Prophet Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam 420000 times

Imam Muhammad Fasi (May Allah SWT shower His Mercy on him) writes in his Matali'us samarrat pg no 322 on the authority of Shaykh Abdullah ‘Amri’s “Lafzud durr bi anaamilal kuff,” that Jibrail AS had the honor of coming to the presence of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) 420000 times. And each time he came and waited on the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) with proper respect.

In the incident of the heavenly journey of the Holy Prophet Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, we see the best example of Jibrail’s AS reverence of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam). Mulla Muhammad Muin Kashfi Harwi (May Allah shower His Mercy upon him) narrates a Hadith about the Heavenly Journey of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam):

“In another Tradition it has been narrated on the authority of Jibrail AS, “I learnt through the Wahi of Allah that my body has been fashioned out of the camphor of Jannah, but I did not know the wisdom behind it. I learnt it on the night of Meraj. It happened like this, in spite of my purity and fineness, I was hesitant to wake up the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and was worried about how to do so. Then I was ordered that I should rub my face on the heels of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam). When I rubbed my face on His heels, the coldness of camphor met warmth and the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) woke up easily from His sleep. Then I understood the wisdom behind making me out of camphor.”

On the night of Meraj, Jibrail AS had the good fortune of serving the Holy Prophet Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. As given in Tafseer Ruh Al Bayan Vol V pg no. 109:

“On the night of Meraj, Jibrail, Mikail, Israfeel AS came to the presence of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam). Each one of them had 70000 angels along with him. When the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) mounted the Buraq, Jibrail AS held the reins of buraq, Mikail AS held the saddle and Israfeel AS was the attendant.”

There is a Hadith in Khasais ul Kubra of Imam Suyuti, Mo’jam e Ausat and Majma’uz Zawaid of Imam Tabarani.

Ummul Momineen Syeda Aisha Siddiqua (May Allah be well pleased with her) narrates on the authority of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), Jibrail AS said, “I have combed the east and the west but I have not found anybody as excellent as the Holy Prophet Hadhrat Muhammad Mustafa (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).”

For the sake of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), May Allah SWT grant the whole Ummah, the respect of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), guide them to virtuousness and protect everybody from the disrespect of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)
