The incident of Hadhrat Abyadh bin Jamaal (May Allah be well pleasd with him)

There is a Hadith in Khasaais-e-Kubra that there was a pustule on the face of Hadhrat Abyadh bin Jamaal (May Allah be well pleased with him) that had split his nose.  The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) called him and passed His blessed hand over his face.  It was gone immediately and no traces of it were left.   The doctors write that conditions like these take a long time to treat, no matter the skill of the treating doctor.  If any doctor had treated that pustule, who can say how much time it would have taken.  Then if that pustule had been treated, then how could the nose that had been split because of it could have been set right again?  In my opinion, this was highly difficult.  Such a troublesome disease, but the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) dispelled it with just a caress of His blessed hand.   It is mentioned in Khasaais-e-Kubra that Hadhrat Basheer says when my father was martyred in the Battle of Uhud, I came crying to the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam).  He told me:  Why do you cry?  Are you not accepting that I am your father and Aisha (May Allah be well pleased with her) is your mother?  After this, He placed His hand on my head the effect of which was that in old age all the hair had turned white, but where His hand had touched, those were still black.  He also says:  I used to stammer and I couldn’t talk because of it.  The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) spit on my tongue.  It untangled immediately.  After this, He asked me:  What is your name? I said:  Buhair.  He said:  No.  You are Basheer.   That the stammering of Hadhrat Basheer (May Allah be well pleased with him) was gone with the blessed saliva of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) isn’t a new thing at all.  These miracles used to happen routinely.    The reason the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) changed his name was that “Buhair” means wrong or flaw.  The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) didn’t like such names in which there was any sense of wrong…….However, it is obvious that is someone is named, say “devil” or “accursed” and that person is addressed by this name, he/she is sure to be saddened by this.  When parents give ill-meaning to their children, then on coming of age, they can’t do anything about it, but whenever anybody addresses them with it, they do feel it.  For this reason, the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) would change ill-meaning names.  It was the affection of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) that He would change things which might hurt others.  If one looks carefully at it, then all good manners are dependent on this.
