THE PROPHET'S HAND

HIS HANDS

When the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) took the pledge from the Sahabah, Allah SWT revealed the following verse and declared the Prophet’s hand as His own hand.

“…the Hand of Allah is over their hands…” Surah Fath (48:10)

Hadhrat Yazid bin Aswad (May Allah be well pleased with him) narrates about the hand of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) “I had the good fortune of meeting the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), I found that the His hand was cooler than ice and more fragrant than musk.” (Zurqani ‘al’al mawahib Vol 5, Pg No: 453)

Hadhrat Abu Juhaifah (May Allah be well pleased with him) says, “People would kiss His hands and rub them on their faces to gain blessings. I also took His hand and placed it on my face. I found that it was cooler than ice and more fragrant than musk.” (Sahih Bukhari Vol 1, Pg No: 502)

His hands' miraculous attribute was that wherever He (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) would place it, that place would be blessed forever. The blessings of His hand would heal diseases; remove troubles; dry udders of a goat would overflow with milk and streams of water would run forth from His fingers. A wave of His hand would split the moon into 2 and the set sun would return. Hadhrat Aiz bin Amr (May Allah be well pleased with him) narrates,” In the Battle of Hunayn, an arrow got stuck in my forehead; because of it, blood kept flowing on my head and chest. The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) wiped the blood off my face and chest with His hands and prayed for me. The blessing of His hand was such that the area He touched became bright and radiant.” (Seerat halbiya Vol 2, Pg No: 128)

HIS FINGERS

Hadhrat Anas (May Allah be well pleased with him) narrates, "When the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) was in Zaura, a vessel was brought to Him. When He (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) kept His hand in it, water started flooding out of His fingers. The Sahabah performed their ablutions with that water. Hadhrat Qatadah (May Allah be well pleased with him) says, I asked Anas (May Allah be well pleased with him) as to how many Sahabah were there? He replied, “300 or around 300.” (Sahih Bukhari Vol 1, Pg No: 504)

Hadhrat Jabir (May Allah be well pleased with him) says, "On the day of Hudaibiyah, the Sahabah felt very thirsty. A vessel was placed in front of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam). He (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) performed wudhu with it. The Sahabah came to Him. The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) asked, “What is the matter with you?” The Sahabah said: O Prophet of Allah (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) except the water in your vessel, there is nothing for us to perform wudhu with or to drink. The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) kept His hand in the vessel. Water started flooding out from His fingers like a stream.Hadhrat Jabir (May Allah be well pleased with him) says, “Then all of us drank from it and performed wudhu with it.” The narrator Hadhrat Salim (May Allah be well pleased with him) says: “I asked Hadhrat Jabir (May Allah be well pleased with him), “How many Sahabah were there?”Hadhrat Jabir (May Allah be well pleased with him) said: “It would have been sufficient for us even if we were a lakh. However, we were 1500.” (Sahih Bukhari Vol 2, Pg No: 598)

There are many miracles of water being released from His fingers. The blessings gained from the hand of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) were permanent. Those who got them would in turn become disseminators of divine grace. Musnad e Ahmad, M'ojam e Tabarani have a Hadith: "Hadhrat Khudaima (May Allah be well pleased with him) took his son Hadhrat Hanzlah (May Allah be well pleased with him) to the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and made some request. The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said to Hadhrat Hanzlah, “Come closer O child”. Hadhrat Hanzlah went closer. The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) put both His hands on his head and said, “May Allah bless you.” The narrator of this Hadith says, “Whenever somebody's face or even an udder of a goat would get swollen, it would be brought to the notice of Hadhrat Hanzlah (May Allah be well pleased with him). He in turn would pass his hand over his head and say, “In the name of Allah, through the blessing of the hand of the Prophet of Allah (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam)” and rub his hand over the swelling and the swelling (or whatever) would disappear.” (Kanzul Ummal Vol 1, Pg No: 327, Mawahib ma’a Zurqani, Vol 5, Pg No: 460)
