Shariah rulings for women suffering from menorrhagia - Some special cases

[The first part of this series ran here and the second here.  This is the penultimate third part]

Shariah rulings for the woman who had regular menses before menorrhagia

In light of the aforementioned Hadith, our Jurists (May Allah shower His Mercy on them) have clarified that the lady who is suffering from such menorrhagia that it is difficult for her to differentiate between her regular menses and the excess flow, then if there was any regularity in the menses of that lady, she will be reverted to it.  It means that the days of regular menses will be counted as menses and the flow on days apart from it will be termed menorrhagia.

Such a lady, when the days of her (previously regular) menses end, will take a bath and make a fresh ablution for every Salaat.  Until the time of the next Salaat starts, she can offer as much Salaat (or any other form of worship) as she wants to, even if she is having menorrhagia.

What to do if the lady is confused about the days and dates of her menses?

If a lady who suffers from menorrhagia, but is confused about the days and dates of her menses, she should think carefully about the days and dates.  Then she should accept what seem to her to be the most probable.  Thus, those days which are by her estimation the days of her menses should be considered as the days of her menses and the rest as menorrhagia.

What to do if the lady is totally confused about the days and dates of her menses?

If the lady is not at all sure about the days of her menses, then the issue will not be decided in favor of one or the other.  Instead the lady should err on the side of caution.  Here, caution is to take a bath for every Salaat.

Some special cases

If a lady suffering from menorrhagia has doubts that the days passing by are her days of purity and her (regular) menses are about to start, she should make fresh ablution for every Salaat.

If a lady suffering from menorrhagia has doubts that the days passing by are her regular menses and her days of purity will start shortly, then she should take a bath for every Salaat.
