I Always Speak The Truth

He would always speak the truth. In happiness and in sorrow, He would speak only the truth as Hadhrat Abdullah bin Umar (May Allah be well pleased with him) says that he asked the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), “O Prophet of Allah SWT, Should I write whatever I hear from you? He said “Yes.” I asked “Even in happiness and in sorrow?” He said, “Yes, as I speak only the truth in all circumstances.”

It has been narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Salma bin Akwah (May Allah be well pleased with him) that in the presence of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), a person ate with his left hand. The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “Eat with your right hand.” He said, “I can’t.” He (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “May you cannot.” That man’s pride stopped him from obeying the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam). Hadhrat Salma bin Akwah (May Allah be well pleased with him) says, “He could not raise his hand to his mouth after that.”

It has been narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be well pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) gave a sermon before us. In His sermon, He said, O people, Haj has been made obligatory for you. So perform Haj.” A Sahabi asked, “O Prophet of Allah (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam), Is Haj obligatory every year? The Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) held His peace. The Sahabi repeated his question 3 times. Then the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “If I had said ‘yes,’ Haj would have become obligatory every year and you could not have afforded this.” (Sahih Muslim, Vol 1, Pg No: 432)
